WHY FOLDEDWINGS

As a retired United Airlines pilot I wanted a name reflective of my new position in life. Foldedwings seemed an appropriate name since birds fold their wings when done flying, aircraft carrier based aircraft fold their wings and possibly in the future giant jetliners may also fold their wings because of space limitations in the gate areas of today's crowded airports.

Final Flight

Upon returning to Honolulu Hawaii on my final flight we were presented a “Water Lei.” Fire trucks on each side of the airplane use their water cannons to form a bridge of water that we taxi under. This is an honor reserved for pilots flying their last flight into Honolulu but seldom done on the mainland except for special management pilots.

MY FAVORITE COPILOT

This page would not be complete without a picture of my favorite “copilot” JoAnn. Although she didn’t fly airplanes, she is my constant companion, best friend and most important, the Love of my Life.

We have been friends since grade school and were married in 1962, long before I became a pilot. She believed in me and made many sacrifices so that I could achieve my boyhood dream.

FINAL FLIGHT CREW

This is my hand picked crew. All three of us retired on the same flight. A first in the industry.
