These videos captured my interest in aviation and gave me the inspiration to pursue my career. As a kid I persuaded my mother to let me stay up until the TV stations would sign off at midnight when they would play these videos. It took several tries but between us we copied the poem. It was the first poem I ever memorized

New Hire

and is forever burned into my memory. Over the years I have given many talks to local civic groups about flying. Iwould always end the presentation by reciting this poem. Many times I quietly thought of the poem while gazing out the A/C windows at the beautiful and wondrous sights that only pilots can behold. Hopefully they will bring you as much enjoyment as I have received.

This was the my first introduction the this wonderful poem

A very well done later version

Done with still photographs - Beautiful

WOW - yet another rendition utilizing a computer simulated spitfire and ending with the song “I believe I can fly”. It may bring tears to your eyes

Not a TV sign off video but High Flight put to music, and sung by John Denver as played on the Bob Hope show

Later video from the EAA Not a TV sign off video but one done with various aircraft.
